Why this site exists

There is an enormous amount of content about medical care in Colombia and almost all of it is about two things: how much cheaper it is, and how to pick a surgeon. Both of those questions get resolved in an afternoon. Everything else — how long you'll actually be gone, whether you can climb stairs on day four, what the trip costs on top of the procedure, who takes your sutures out when you're home — gets a vague paragraph and a photograph of a beach.

Those questions are the ones that determine whether your trip goes well. They're also the ones you can only answer properly if you're physically here, watching how it actually plays out for people, and if you have no financial reason to make the trip sound shorter or easier than it is.

The rules this site runs on

• No procedure prices. Ever. A real number requires imaging, a history, and a surgeon looking at you. Anything else anchors you to fiction. Procedure ranges live on the sites built for them.
• No invented anything. No made-up clinic names, no invented statistics, no testimonials. If a number appears here it's a stated planning range and it's labelled as one.
• No surgeon recommendations. I'll tell you how to verify one on ReTHUS and what a bad answer sounds like. I won't tell you who to use.
• Accreditation cited honestly. Hospital accreditation applies to hospitals. It does not transfer to a clinic or attach to an individual physician, and anyone implying otherwise is selling.
• Affiliate links disclosed where they appear and never allowed to change what's written.

What I actually do

I publish trip-planning information, I build free planning tools, and I answer questions on WhatsApp from the same time zone your clinic is in. When you're ready to compare surgeons and procedure costs, I hand you to Colombia Medical and the procedure-specific sites in the same network. If you'd rather have someone coordinate the whole thing in person, that's a separate service and I'll tell you plainly that it costs money.

On Colombia's health system

You'll see a lot of marketing citing a World Health Organization ranking that put Colombia 22nd globally and first in the Western Hemisphere. That figure comes from the WHO's 2000 World Health Report. It is a real finding and it is also decades old, and the WHO has not repeated that ranking exercise since. Treat it as historical context, not a current statement about any specific hospital or surgeon. What actually matters for your outcome is the individual practitioner, the individual facility, and the homework you do.
