Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-08-26
This policy explains what Colombia Medical Trip (colombiamedicaltrip.com), operated by Scout Theory LLC, collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
We deliberately do not collect health information. Our forms ask for your name, contact details, and trip logistics — procedure category, city, timing, origin. We do not ask for your medical history, symptoms, medications, or diagnosis, and we ask you not to send them. This is a design decision: collecting health data creates obligations and risks that serve us and not you.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit the trip binder request or the contact form: your name, email address, optionally a WhatsApp number, and the trip-planning fields on that form. If you write a free-text question, whatever you choose to put in it.
Information collected automatically
We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-KKGRRG3BBS) to understand which pages are useful. This collects standard analytics data including approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, and referring source. It does not tell us who you are.
What we do not collect
Health data. Payment information — we never take payment on this site. Government identifiers. Precise location.
The trip planner
The interactive planner runs entirely in your browser. Your selections are not transmitted to us, not stored, and not associated with you. If you close the tab, they're gone.
How we use what we collect
- To build and send the trip binder you requested
- To answer your question
- To follow up once about whether the information was useful
- In aggregate, to decide what to write about next
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with clinics, hospitals, surgeons, or medical providers unless you specifically and explicitly ask us to make an introduction. We do not run advertising on this site.
Where your information goes
Form submissions are processed through Google Apps Script and stored in Google Workspace. Analytics data is processed by Google. Email is handled through standard email infrastructure. Each of these providers has its own privacy terms, and your information is subject to them as well as to this policy.
Retention
Contact and binder request records are kept while there is an active reason to keep them — typically up to twenty-four months from your last contact with us — then deleted. You can ask for deletion sooner at any time and we'll do it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Email andy@colombiamedical.co and we'll action it. Depending on where you live, you may have specific statutory rights — under Colombian data protection law (Ley 1581 de 2012 and the Habeas Data framework), the EU and UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA. We honour these requests regardless of whether a particular law applies to you.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics sets cookies. You can block them with browser settings, an extension, or Google's opt-out tool. Nothing on this site requires cookies to function, including the planner.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links, meaning we may receive a commission if you use a service after clicking one. These are marked where they appear. They cost you nothing extra and they do not influence what we write. If they ever did, this site would be worthless and so would we.
Children
This site is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use information already collected will be notified by email where we have one.
